Famous Goroka Cultural Festival Set to be Extraordinary

The world renowned Annual Goroka Cultural Festival is set to be extraordinary according to the Goroka Show Society during their first meeting held at the Bird of Paradise Hotel on the 12 of May. This year will mark the 59th Goroka Cultural Festival and it is a biggest and oldest event in the Nation.
The event will be held on the 11th to 13th of September, 2015 at National Sporting Institute, the hub of Goroka. Tourists are expected to be flooded in numbers from all over the world and throughout the country.
Plans and preparations are currently underway for the annual Goroka Cultural Festival.  The Goroka Cultural Show Society had already gain support from corporate entities in the province and the provincial government.

The Goroka Cultural Show Society has welcomed interested corporate entities to buy the naming right of the first day event which is the ‘Pikinini Festival’.

 This year’s event is going to be the biggest in the history and more than 150 cultural groups throughout the country will take part.  This will feature unique and yet impressive cultural dances which will be put on show to mark the annual festival.

 The Gate Tickets will be sold at K5.00 for children and K10.00 for adults and that is for ordinary people whistle for VIP and Tourists are set forth. The cultural event will take three days and the first day which is Friday is set for the children and it is called the “Pikinini Festival”. The Pikinini Festival will be enthralling as primary aged students all of the country will participate with different programs such as sporting, traditional dances, and showcase the elements of culture. All children will enter the gate free on Friday for the Pikinini Festival.

  In addition Miss Goroka Quest will be put on during the Nights on Thursday and Friday. There will be 16 contestants for the Quest, two candidates from each electorate from the 8 electorates of Eastern Highlands Province.  The beautiful and pretty young ladies from the province will compete for the Miss Goroka title.
